BIDDING SHAM

The story of the 14k Lego Bionicle Hau mask has gone viral in some circles, according to a Facebook post.

The last time the item was listed, the bidding got up to $33,000.

But no one ever actually claimed the item because the final bid was from a fake account so the store did what it described as the "fairest thing to do" and relisted the rare collectible.

Goodwill Industries of North Pennsylvania claimed that though it doesn't expect the bid to get that high again, "it is still a very rare item."

According to the post, there are only 30 of the 14k gold Lego pieces/pendants in existence.

"Some were given to Lego employees and others were given out through a magazine contest in 2001," said the post.

Facebook users took to the comments to speculate about the rare find.

"How very interesting ...." wrote one user while another asked if there were Lego markings on the mask.

"I am not talking about the box" they wrote, "just the mask itself?" asking if there was a Lego logo imprinted on the gold plating.

Another user claimed that the platinum version of the mask sold for "close to 14k."
