Jason Weaver dead at 42: Big Daddy Weave star dies from Covid complications as brother Mike pays tribute

JASON Weaver, the bass player from Big Daddy Weaver, has passed away at 42 from Covid complications as his bandmate and brother Mike paid tribute to the star.

Mike confirmed his brother's death in a social media video on Sunday, saying: "Jay went to be with Jesus."

"I'm sorry to bring this news, but I am excited to celebrate where he is right now. My brother Jay went to be with Jesus just a couple of hours ago," Mike said.

"You've seen him walk the uphill battle and you guys helped carry him through so much. Even though COVID took his last breath, Jesus was right there to catch him," he added.

“My heart’s broke[n] for my family here but also for Jay’s family in Florida. But we all just really wanted to thank you for walking with us through so much, you know, for so long.”

Mike spoke about his brother's impact, saying: "The Lord used him in such a mighty way out on the road for many years. And anybody who has come into contact with him knows just how real his faith in Jesus was.”

The former Florida worship leader added: "The prayers of healing can now turn into prayers of thanksgiving now that Jay is in God's presence."

Big Daddy Weave is an American Christian band from Alabama composed of brothers Mike and Jay Weaver, Joe Shirk, Jeremy Redmon, and Brian Beihl.

They released their first studio album, Neighborhoods, in 2001.

In 2006 and 2007, Big Daddy Weave toured with Mark Schultz on his Broken and Beautiful Tour.

In 2009, the band headlined the What Life Would Be Like Tour with guest musician Josh Wilson.

Jay is survived by his wife Emily and their three children, Makenzie, Madison and Nathan.
